LGBTQ+ Equality and Pride
LGBTQ+ Equality and Pride
New York City should be a place where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can live safely, openly, and with dignity.
From the West Village to Chelsea to Hell’s Kitchen, our district has been at the forefront of our nation’s LGBTQ+ civil rights movement. I will work for more historic preservation to keep these communities vibrant.
In my role as Chief of Staff to then-Council Member Erik Bottcher, I worked with many LGBTQ+ organizations to strengthen their programs and expand the vital services they provide to our community. Through my work with the LGBTQIA+ Caucus, I helped advance and pass comprehensive protections for transgender & gender non-conforming New Yorkers and expand access to gender-affirming health care. I will continue this support as well as work to expand funding for mental health services and HIV prevention and treatment.
Housing Security for LGBTQ+ Communities
LGBTQ+ youth and seniors face disproportionately high rates of housing instability. I will champion investments in inclusive shelters, supportive housing, and strong anti-discrimination enforcement.
Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth
I will advocate for inclusive, affirming schools and expanded youth programming. That means protecting LGBTQ+ students from bullying, supporting GSAs, and ensuring access to culturally competent counseling and services.
Standing with Transgender & Gender Non-Conforming New Yorkers
I am committed to advancing policies that protect and uplift transgender and gender non-conforming people, who face disproportionate violence and economic hardship.
