Senior Issues and Aging with Dignity
New York City has endless appeal to the next generation, but the people who have been here for decades built the communities we are fortunate to call home. They should be able to age in place with stability and access to the full life of the city. That means making sure seniors have affordable housing, accessible transit, and quality healthcare and support services.
I will prioritize capital and discretionary funding to support senior centers, community-based organizations, and programs that support aging in place and provide programming and meals for those in need.
As our aging population increases, we must increase investment in community-based healthcare, home care services, and our public hospital system. I also support the healthcare workers who care for our seniors by advocating for safe staffing levels, fair wages, and safe working conditions. A well-supported workforce is essential to delivering high-quality care.
I will continue our monthly SCRIE and DRIE clinic to help connect seniors and people with disabilities to these vital programs.
